Get Outside Once a Day

At least once a day, you should try to get up, get outside, especially if the sun is shining, and try to at least do one thing you enjoy whether it be around the house, in the neighborhood, or around the city.

Do the Things You Enjoy

Engage in things that you enjoy doing. Don’t continue to beat yourself up about feeling sick.

If you enjoy playing a certain game on the computer, reading or binge-watching a TV series, try to do that while you’re feeling ill. This will help you feel a little bit better¬†and feel a little bit more about yourself.

Socialize with Friends or Family

If you live on your own, it is important to have social contact with other people. Don’t be afraid to call a friend or family member, go over to someone’s house or have someone visit you, so you don’t feel completely isolated, especially in periods of flares.

Just Let It Go

With lupus and with depression, that there is a lot of guilt, so what you need to do sometimes is just let it go completely.

Sometimes that’s easier said than done, but some days, you just need to rest, and you can’t get anything done, and that’s just what your body needs, so it’s important to listen to your body and not beat yourself up about it.

Reach Out to Your Doctor

It’s okay to reach out to others when you need help.

There are many options to assist you in your fight against depression. Your doctor may bring up cognitive behavioral therapy or antidepressants options that may help you get through this.
