Using Makeup to Cover Your Butterfly Rash
The first thing to do is apply a moisturizer to your face. I use a spray moisturizer, but you can use any type you like. Once your moisturizer has dried apply a primer, which should be a green color.
The darker your skin the darker green you should use, so it's worth talking to someone at the makeup counter about which primer is best for you. This step is key to covering up the redness, so you definitely don’t want to skip it!
Once the primer is blended in I use a concealer, mostly on my nose to conceal the redness a little bit more, but it's totally up to you — this step is optional.
After that, you will put on your foundation. I use a BB cream, which is a really light coverage, because my butterfly rash isn't too pronounced. If your rash is really visible or raised you can use something called Dermablend, which is formulated to cover tattoos but can also cover rashes and redness. You can also check out Clinique's Redness Solutions range, which is formulated to cover redness on the face.
Once your foundation is on apply a little bit of powder to set everything for the rest of the day.
