  • My Uncle on my Fathers side has it, I have it, my niece has it and my oldest son has the gene for it and my 2 yr old grand daughter has the gene. That's all I know of .
  • SLE has never skipped a generation on my mother's side of the family. So yes, I do believe it can be hereditary or genetic.
  • The studies seem to show that people with lupus or SLE have a gene in them that can be triggered by other factors like evironment, stress, diet etc, which then cause the illness to develope. (My own thoughts/opinion)
